Transitional Funding

In 2015, the Foundation  adopted a new strategic framework that seeks to address vital racial injustices in the Boston and Chelsea communities.

In order to focus the Foundation’s future resources on grassroots leadership development, community organizing and policy advocacy, the Hyams trustees made the decision to phase down, over time, funding for direct programming of the Teen Futures Initiative and its Geographically Targeted Affordable Housing Production and Preservation strategy.  As the grantmaking guidelines make clear, however, the Foundation remains committed to continuing to focus on both disconnected “opportunity” youth and affordable housing access through its support of organizing and policy change to address two important racial justice issues.
